Someone told me once that "art is the best investment". Clearly, they did not realise that I was not the kind of person who would be shelling out on a Jackon Pollock original any time soon, as I am not a 'man of means'. However, when it came to the cover of the book, I found an artist who I really liked and it was worth paying a professional to get that 80s, American, small town, slightly airbrushed look I was hoping to achieve (but without falling into too much of a cliche).
I'm really surprised I managed to get my idea across well enough for Tim to turn a basic image I had in my head into something so striking. And, this is not a collage. Tim is an ultra-talent photo-realism computer artist who has a style that just fits the book perfectly.
